Timeline

This is a timeline of American Waste and related bands. It's still in the works.
*07/02/94 - An unnamed band, consisting of Tommy OBNOXIOUS on guitar, Sean Dyer on vocals, Rich Sullivan on 'bass', and dickhead Dan on drums have it's first "show" and practice together. They played a bunch of originals including Piss Off (previously written by Tom) and a few cover songs including Egg Raid On Mojo by the Beastie Boys, Belsen was a Gas by the Sex Pistols, and Louie Louie, amongst others. This show, which was Tom and Rich's idea, was thrown in Rich's backyard. This show resulted in getting them another show two days later at a girl named Lisa's backyard.

*07/04/94 - Happy Independence Day! The band consisted of the same lineup as two days before. At the show the band played the same songs and more, and Steve from The Irish Pulls (Now named The Pulls) was walking down the street so they got him to come up and play guitar on some songs including Belsen, a few MISFITS songs, and even a Danzig song or two. The event was going smoothly until Sean started yelling at the neighbors to "Piss Off" and the cops were called. The cops let everyone go with a warning even though everyone there was underage and drinking. In fact, one of the cops played the bass a little bit.

*07/05/94 - With two shows already under their belt the future looked bright.

*07/??/94 --
*03/??/95 - After Tom named the band D.W.I., the band didn't practice too much because of the drummer lying constantly and coming up with fake excuses to not practice. While the band didn't practice consistently, per se, Tom and Rich still jammed together and wrote some more songs. Occasionally Sean would join them on vocals.

*03/??/95 - Tom and Rich were informed by Sean that he had quit. Tom and Rich went and got Mike R. on drums. They practiced constantly as a 3-piece in Tom's room and would come up with a bunch of new songs everyday, most of which were forgotten by the end of the practice.

*03/??/95 - They added a singer who was also named Rich. This is where every practice started at Tom's house playing music and ended up at the new Rich's house drinking 40's of Mickey's and Colt 45. Rich never really sang, but when he did he screamed like the singer of Cryptic Slaughter. He didn't write anything much of interest, except he added lyrics to a little instrumental Tom had written as a joke. The lyrics consisted of and was called "Die, Kill, Murder, Hate." They were the only words and were repeated over and over again. This was the only lineup who did this song, but Rich took it with him later in a future band he would join. He also came up with the title to one of the songs that later had lyrics written by Tom, called "I Want More." He had consistently said he was going to write lyrics for that song but never did, so Tom later had to write them for a show, which will be discussed later.

Also, one Saturday morning Tom had been watching WWF Wrestling and Ravishing Rick Rude was talking crap on the TV and Tom got an idea. Since there were two Rich's in the band, he'd name the one Rich Rude. So, at practice later that day, Tom was talking in between songs and said that one of the Rich's should be called Rich Rude, and before the singer could say anything the bassist jumped on it. A little argument ensued (which the singer seemed to do with everyone but Tom) and by the end of it Tom had re-christened the singer Rex, and the bassist got to keep Rich Rude.

*04/??/95 - Mike, the drummer, went psycho and quit. He never liked Rex anyway. He checked himself into a mental hospital, on which date, I don't know. I don't even know the exact month or year, I just knew that it was after he quit.

*05/??/95 - The band had stupidly taken back Dan as their drummer. The band had grown sick of Rex by this time and kept practicing without him. The only thing that Dan did for the band was get him a show in Collingdale, PA at a warehouse. The band didn't have a singer so they recruited Jamie Schmidt (ever how you spell it) whom they had known for years. He was a better singer then Rex but they still needed lyrics to most of the songs. Since none of the singers ever seemed to want to write any of the lyrics, Tom had watched a video of the band sans singer practicing the songs. So, one day, about a week before the show, Tom got a couple of 40's and sat down and watched the video, writing down whatever words would flow into his head as the songs played. Since "I Want More" and "Get Me Drunk" were back to back on the video, Tom had written the lyrics similarly to each other. The truth is, he tried to write the lyrics of "Get Me Drunk" to the music of "I Want More," but realized that they fit and worked better to "Get Me Drunk" so after putting those lyrics to that music he then went and had to rewrite "I Want More" The result was two songs that reflect a lyrical genius! Ha! Nah, but the lyrics ended up working well with each song.
So after a few practices (maybe 2?) D.W.I. played the show and Schmidt in pure Punk Rock style went up there on stage, lyric sheet in hand, and sang the words. In between the songs he yelled at the crowd and made jokes. This show is available on video tape.A good time was had by all in the band and the crowd as well.

*06/??/95 --
*08/??/95 - D.W.I. played a bunch of shows, most on video tape, and a lot of them at the Masonic Hall in Prospect Park, PA. By this time Schmidt had taken to getting in fights with people in the crowd before, during, and after the shows. At one show at the Masonic he had broken the jaw of somebody. In the crowd during that show was Professor Marty Useless, future lead singer of The RICHLESS.

*??/??/?? - The infamous show in Morton, PA. Steve of The Irish Pulls and Rich Rude decided to rent a hall and throw a show, which seemed to be a good idea. Well, what was a good idea turned into a disaster. Some bands played, then the Irish Pulls and then Rancid Fat, er.. I mean Rancid Vat. During their set they played mummer massacre, the singer fell through a table, and the Whiskey Rebel (guitar) drank a whole beer as his stage show. Sometime during that, people started throwing bottles and other things and totally trashed the place. Without even playing a single note, the band was infamous. Everyone always said they heard that the show was D.W.I.'s show and all, but they never even played a single note. The thing about it was Steve had to pay thousand of dollars in damages.

Later that night Dan and Rich decided to throw Schmidt out of the band. Tom reluctantly agreed, and in fact was the one who had to tell him he was out.

Sometime before this the band had recorded a demo

*??/??/?? - The band recorded another demo as a 3-piece with Tom doing most of the lead vocals, and Rich doing the rest.

*??/??/?? - After being totally unreliable, and forcing the band to cancel a show at a festival in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Dan was kicked out of the band for good.

*??/??/95 --
*??/??/96 - Chaz, AKA, Granola Head joined the band. The band got a little slower as this hippie took the skins, but there was a groove added to some songs that weren't there before or after. He was from the beginning, a fill-in drummer, but played with the band for months. In fact, they rehearsed in his house. Although being a bit slower, they still rocked out. There's a few video's of the band playing together available. Nothing was recorded with him on drums.

*??/??/96 - After months of having no drummer, sXe John AKA John Kahn joined the band. Bernie, a friend of the band, was in a band with him previously and was the one who got him to join the band. This was the best lineup the band ever had. Tommy OBNOXIOUS on guitar, vocals and backing vocals, sXe John on drums, "Rockstar" Rich Rude on bass, backing vocals, vocals. John was by far the best drummer ever in the band as well.
